Big Hero 6 Family Movie night!

Pin It now! We were so excited to get Big Hero 6 on blu-ray the day that it came out that we planned a family movie night for that night! I had been thinking about it for awhile but I didn't actually start planning until that morning! Thankfully my 6 year old is great helper with fun ideas. :)

We decorated the table a bit... normally I would use the blu-ray case as a decoration, too, but it was coming from Amazon and hadn't been delivered yet. I was starting to stress a little bit. We did have an early dinner (a little after 4) because my daughter had dance that night. The plan was dinner, dance, then movie.

For the placemats I just printed a couple of pictures from HaleGrafx. I also used the same pictures (except smaller) to make a Big Hero 6 banner that I hung on the fireplace. You'll see that later. I also got the water bottle labels from HaleGrafx.

For dinner we had:

Hiro's Hero sandwiches
Baymax marshmallows
Wasabi's applesauce (it's pear applesauce so it's green like wasabi lol)
GoGo's green veggies
Fred's sweet potato fries

and for dessert...

Honey Lemon's pudding for dessert (lemon and chocolate pudding layered to look like bee stripes to tie into the honey part of her name)

You can print your own Big Hero 6 tickets or other Disney movie tickets from my blog!

About halfway through dinner our blu-ray arrived! Yay!

Here's the banner...

And earlier in the day the kids put together their own Baymax (I printed those from M. Gulin)

While Ashlynn was at dance I put together some snacks for the movie and when she got home it was movie time!

It was a really fun night and we LOVED the movie!! I'm excited to plan another fun movie night soon!

Disney's Frozen Family Movie Night

Pin It now! Last night we had our long awaited Frozen movie night!!! In January we had a Frozen themed birthday party for my daughter and I wanted to try my best to come up with new ideas for this movie night. There were a couple of things that I just loved too much and decided to do them again. :) :)

Before Christmas I found some Frozen wrapping paper at Walmart, I used that to make our placemats for tonight's dinner and I used some of the kid's Frozen toys to decorate our table.

No movie night is complete without family movie night tickets! The kids had to pay me with a kiss to get their ticket. :)

We used our Christmas tree lights to decorate a little bit. I would have looked so much better if the strings would have been white BUT the kids loved them and that's all that really matters, right?! I love doing fun little things like this that make the kids so excited and happy!!! We also hung up some snowflakes that's I've been holding onto since two Christmases ago. (I've used them 3 times now and I don't plan on getting rid of them yet!) haha

For dinner we had:

Anna and Hans' "Finish Each Others Sandwiches"
Elsa's Snowy White Mac & Cheese
Sven's Carrot and Raisin Salad
Olaf's Snowman Pieces (powdered donut holes, pretzel sticks, raisins, and carrots)

To drink we had:

Kristoff's Iced Koolaid

And for dessert we had:

"Some People Are Worth Melting (chocolate) For" Fondue with strawberries, bananas, and marshmallows to dip

And these cake pops that are too cute for words! I watched an awesome tutorial from My Cupcake Addiction and knew I had to make them.

And I printed out these cute little pictures and taped them to long toothpicks to stick in the fruit for dipping.

Yummy dessert!!

And for during the movie I drew little snowman faces with colored sharpies onto some clear cups for the kids to eat their popcorn out of.

We put some of our Frozen wrapping paper on their table, too, and put some Frozen pillows on their chairs.

And just for fun here's a picture of Ashlynn in her Elsa dress. :) :)

We had planned to play freeze tag and color some pictures but we didn't have time. While I was making dinner the kids colored and did some activities in their Frozen coloring book . They had fun with that!

Did you have a special family movie night? I'd love to hear about it!

(Happy) St. Patrick's Day Cookies!

Pin It now! Me and the kids made these cookies a couple of weeks ago. It was my first time decorating with royal icing! (I got the cookie and royal icing recipes from Bake at 350) I definitely need more practice but I think the cookies turned out pretty cute. And they were definitely yummy!

Here are the ones that the kids decorated. They both love to help in the kitchen!

Ashlynn got to try out her new Snow White apron that Dave's mom made for her. It's so cute!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! :)

Wreck-It Ralph Family Movie Night!!

Pin It now!
We had a Wreck-It Ralph movie night last night. I'm a little obsessed with that movie. I LOVE it!! I had a few more ideas that I wanted to do and had originally planned to have our movie night on this coming Wednesday but I was too excited to wait that long! My husband had drill this weekend so because he was going to be home last night I decided to throw our movie night together even though I wasn't 100% ready for it. I'm so happy with how it turned out even though I didn't get to include everything that I wanted to. It was so much fun... quite possibly my favorite family movie night yet.

So, for decorations I printed out some candy and taped them up on the walls. I also printed out some Wreck-It Ralph printables and put them in the frames that I have hanging up. One of Dawson's favorite parts in the movie is the Laffy Taffy part, so I decided to hang some "laffy taffy" from our ceiling. Might I add that he has a TON of favorite parts, I think he loves the movie as much as I do! He laughs so much through the entire movie. Anyway, the laffy taffy made us laugh too! A couple pieces fell as we were eating dinner and the kids thought that was pretty funny!

I also had a brick "tablecloth," some cupcake plates and napkins, a Nintendo remote control (it has candy in it, although we didn't eat it), and my cupcake stand filled with "cupcakes."

A closer look at what is up on the wall...

I made us some placemats with Wreck-It Ralph printables taped to them.

A closer look at our table decor.

No movie night would be complete without movie tickets. (Which you can print for free from my blog. :) Free printable family movie night tickets)

Dinner is served! We had Root Beer floats from Tapper's, complete with a cherry from Pac-Man on top! We also had "cupcakes" which were mini meatloaves with mashed potatoes and cheese sprinkles on top. And not-so-Sour Bill peas.

After I pulled the mini meatloaves from the oven and let them cool a bit I put them in cupcake wrappers and put some frosting and sprinkles mashed potatoes and cheese on top to complete the cupcake look.

Dinner was yummy and we all laughed at the falling "laffy taffy."

I had my hubby pass me the camera (it was on the counter behind him) when I saw the kids having so much fun so I could capture a few pictures. I decided to get a close-up of the printables while I had the camera with me.

I'm BAD and that's GOOD. I will never be good, and that's not bad.
There is no one I'd rather be, than me.
While I was making dinner the kids colored these Wreck-It Ralph coloring pages.

Their other activity was to make their own dessert! Because we already had Root Beer floats with dinner we tried to keep dessert a little healthier. We had to include Oreos, though, because that song has been stuck in my head all week... O-re-o, oreee-o! You're welcome. :) And the mini ones make really good wheels!

We used peanut butter to glue everything together and we let the kids add candy sprinkles. I figured the cars needed some kind of candy since they are Sugar Rush cars after all!

The cars turned out super cute and the kids LOVED making AND eating them. Then it was finally time to watch the movie. :) We didn't start the movie until almost 8pm which is normally the kids' bedtime so Ashlynn only made it about halfway through the movie (don't feel too bad, me and the kids have watched the movie like 5 times already in the last week!) before we had to put her to bed in her fungeon crib.

This was seriously a blast! I'm in the mood to plan another movie night... any ideas on what movie we should do next? Have you had a family movie night recently? I'd love to hear about it if you have!
