Hamburgers and Fries - April Fools!

Pin It now!
Order up! I made some yummy burgers and fries for lunch today... ok, ok, April Fools! ;) They are actually cupcakes, brownies and sugar cookies! I wanted to send something to work with hubby for April Fools and ever since I saw these in Bakerella's blog a couple of years ago I knew I wanted to try them. They were a lot of fun to make and I think they turned out pretty cute!

Did you do anything fun for April Fools?

Mickey Mouse Cupcakes

Pin It now! While we were at Disneyland a couple of weeks ago I bought a few things that I thought would be perfect for our muffin tin meals. This week there wasn't a set theme for Muffin Tin Monday, so I decided it would be the perfect time to do our own Mickey Mouse theme. And it gave me the perfect excuse to make these Mickey Mouse cupcakes that I have been thinking about for a couple of weeks now. They didn't turn out quite as perfect as I had imagined, but they are still pretty cute and pretty easy to make.

I baked some cupcakes, frosted them and then dipped them in crushed up Oreos. For the ears I used mini Nilla wafers, frosted those and dipped them in crushed up Oreos, too. And the buttons on front are white confetti sprinkles.

If you wanted to make some Minnie Mouse cupcakes, too, these red and white polka dot baking cups from Bake It Pretty would be perfect for them! And then you wouldn't have to stick on a whole bunch of confetti to make it look like Minnie's dress. For the bow you probably find some candy that would work, or just piping out some colored frosting in the shape of a bow would be pretty easy. Ok, now I want to make Minnie cupcakes!

I'm happy with Mickey for now though.

I used Mickey sprinkles on some of the cupcakes, too.

Sooooooooooooo yummy!

Rainbow Cupcakes

Pin It now!
This coming Monday's muffin tin theme is the colors of the rainbow so I decided to make some rainbow cupcakes to go in Dawson's tin. They are super easy to make and I thought I would share them now in case anybody else wants to make them for their tin on Monday.

I used white cake mix and made the mix according to the directions on the package and then I followed the directions on Disney's Family Fun website to separate the mix and add the food coloring.

I love how pretty the colors look. And they look pretty cool once you put them in the tin, too.

While the cupcakes were baking I made vanilla frosting from this Pioneer Woman recipe. SO good and so easy!

After the cupcakes came out of the oven and cooled for a bit I frosted them. Voila, yummy rainbow cupcakes.

Make sure to come back on Monday and see what else was in Dawson's colors of the rainbow tin.

Free Custom Layout, Banner and Button... and Cupcakes...

Pin It now! There is nothing special about these cupcakes that I made a few days ago while my niece was sleeping over... But I just have to say that I LOVE Wilton's holiday sprinkles. I could put them on just about anything, I think. They made my chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting so Christmasy.

*sigh* I'm in love with sprinkles.

Anyway, this isn't a completely pointless post... I've been playing around a lot with Photoshop lately and I'd like some more practice. So, I was thinking, if anybody wants me to make a layout for their blog, or a header...or a button...I will. :-)

I made this Christmas layout and header that is in my blog. I also made my button and a layout that matches the button which I will switch back to after Christmas. And I put together a layout for Three A's and a C (I didn't make her banner) and I made her Book Fan Friday button.

I'm still a beginner, but like I said before I would like more practice. So if you want me to make something for you just leave me a comment or email me, all that I ask is that you are a follower of my blog.

I don't think I am going to get too many requests, but in case I do, I would like to start out only making 1 or 2 for now. If I have more people wanting something, then I'll do a random drawing. :-) I'm sure I will want more practice, so even if you don't get picked the first time around I'll probably be making more.

Cupcake Turkey Treats

Pin It now! Dawson and I have a visitor today! My 5 year old niece is sleeping over with us! Yay! I was in the mood to bake and I knew she would have fun helping me, so I waited for her to get here before I got started.

We made cupcakes and little turkeys to go on top.

What we used:

cake mix
frosting
cookie icing
double stuffed oreos
candy corn
mini reese's peanut butter cups
whoppers
edible pen

They are so cute! I had a little trouble with the eyes (icing and edible pen...go figure that probably the easiest part would be the hardest for me), but other than that they were fairly easy to make. :-)

How to make the turkeys:

Step 1- Pull the Oreo apart. If it breaks you can just add some icing to "glue" it back together

Step 2- Put a little bit of icing along the top of the cream in the Oreo where you will be placing the candy corn. (When the icing dries this will help keep the candy corn in place)

Step 3- Put a candy corn against the inside of the Oreo and gently slide it down into the cream (only the tip of the candy corn (white part) should be in the cream) You can put 4-6 candy corn on there depending on how many feathers you want.

Step 4- Put some icing on the inside of the Oreo and put the pieces back together.

Step 5- Put some icing on the Reese's peanut butter cup and "glue" it to the Oreo. (If you have little ones that are allergic to peanut butter you could use sliced bananas dipped in chocolate or possibly chocolate cherry cordials)

Step 6- Put some icing on the Oreo where you are going to put the whopper and also put a little icing on top of the peanut butter cup and place the whopper on the icing.

Step 7- Cut the white tip off a candy corn, this will be for the nose, add some icing to the back of it and put it on the turkey's face

Step 8- Use icing to make the eyes

Step 9- After the icing has dried, use and edible pen to dot the eyes.

Step 10- Place the turkey on the cupcake. :-)

Enjoy!
